About O'Neil's Tree Service

O'Neil's Tree Service is a Board Certified Master Arborist-led tree care company based in Palm Harbor, FL, serving Clearwater, Palm Harbor, and Pinellas County. Founded by Apollo O'Neil, the company operates under a straightforward philosophy: understand what a tree actually needs, explain it clearly, and do the work right the first time.

How This Started

Apollo O’Neil removed his first tree with his dad when he was just 5 years old. He began doing tree work professionally in Clearwater in 2005, and founded O’Neil’s Tree Service in 2008. That was the beginning. Since then, O’Neil’s has helped more than 20,000 homeowners across Pinellas County with everything from structural pruning to crane-assisted removals to plant health care programs that have kept trees standing that would otherwise have come down.

The company grew because of a simple standard: no fear language, no upselling, no telling a client a tree is dangerous to generate a removal that was not needed. That approach is harder to maintain than a standard sales script, but it is the reason clients call us back and refer their neighbors.

The Brand Family

O’Neil’s LLC is the parent entity. Two divisions operate under it.

O’Neil’s Tree Service is the core brand. Tree pruning, removal, plant health care, risk assessment, cabling and bracing, tree care consulting, stump grinding. Every job overseen by an ISA Certified Arborist. Principal arborist: Apollo O’Neil, Board Certified Master Arborist.

O’Neil’s Land Care is the natural extension. Mosquito control, outdoor pest control, and lawn fertilization for the same properties we manage trees on. The same standard of care applied to the rest of the living systems on your property. Headed by Carson Smith, COO.

The shared identity for both divisions is Urban Land Stewards. That phrase means something specific: we manage the relationship between people and the trees, soil, and the living systems on their property. Not just cutting and spraying. Understanding the whole picture and making decisions that make the property better over time.

The Fair Exchange Model

Most tree companies show up, look at the tree, and tell you it needs work. We show up, look at the tree, and tell you what we see, including if it does not need work.

We call this the Fair Exchange model. You get a clear explanation of what is happening with your trees and what your options are. We get the opportunity to earn your business with honest information. If you hire us, you hire us because the recommendation made sense, not because someone created fear or urgency.

Education is the product. Lead generation is the outcome. Those two things are not in conflict. A homeowner who understands their trees is a better client, a more likely referral, and a more loyal customer than one who was pressured into a job they did not fully understand.

Our Credentials

Apollo O’Neil holds the Board Certified Master Arborist credential from ISA, the highest professional certification in arboriculture. ISA BCMA certification requires documented field experience, a written examination covering all areas of arboricultural science, and ongoing continuing education. It is not a marketing credential. It is a professional standard.

Our staff includes multiple ISA Certified Arborists. Specific credential details, staff bios, and certification numbers are available on our arborists page.

O’Neil’s Land Care holds a CPO Lawn and Ornamental license for treatments requiring that credential. All work is performed in compliance with Florida state licensing requirements.

How We Work

Every job starts with an assessment, not a quote. Our arborists walk the property, identify the trees and plants, and look at species, structure, soil, and site conditions before recommending anything.

We plan jobs before starting them. Before a crew begins work, they review the scope, identify hazards, and agree on the approach. Rushing tree work is how accidents happen and how properties get damaged. We do not rush.

We clean up after ourselves. The goal is to make it look like we were never there. Debris is handled based on your preference. We walk the site with you before we leave.

Our Standard for Safety

Hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, chainsaw-rated pants or chaps, and work boots are required on every job site. Every time. Not because of OSHA, because it is the standard we hold ourselves to. A crew that enforces safety standards is a crew that takes every other part of the job seriously.

Our crews attend weekly safety and educational meetings every Friday at our Palm Harbor shop. We train continuously, not just at onboarding.
